It was in mid-May that an e-mail was sent to Wardens by the Consulate in
Guadalajara announcing that some 200 or so wheel-chairs were to be given
without charge to those who needed them in Jalisco, Colima and Nyarit.
The sponsor of this generous gesture was the Rotary Club of Tucson Arizona - www.tucsonrotary.org ....and
the details of choosing the fortunate recipients were to be handled by
the Rotarians in the Puerto Vallarta area. Application forms were
completed, Photos taken and other documents submitted in order to assure
that La Manzanilla's two applicants every bit as worthy as any others.
So they were judged by the committee and just last week Elpidia Vera
Gonzales and Augustin Silva Guerrero received their chairs from Rotarian
Don Merriman who drove down from PV for the purpose.Thanks also go to Julie who was instrumental in the process. |
