Since nobody is answering with facts I write you what I know If your eyes get itchy and red wash them out with camomile tea and make sure that you use a clean tissue for each eye every time you do so. There are also special drops on the market. My guests just had the infection and they used an antibiotic but I dont think it is necessary. It will go away after some days and I think there is no need to panic.
