Tonia, Yolanda and I were swimming the other week in front of Santanas as a rip tide took us out and Tonia was not able to swim back. Yolanda held on to her and I swam parallel a while and then have been able to get to shore and get help from someone with a surfboard.
I am a strong swimmer but nearly did not make it one time in front of the old Hotel. This area is dangerous.
The rip tides occure this time of the year with the strong surfes. I can see them sometimes from my terrace. It makes sense to swim parallel to get out of them. It gets very exhausting to try to swim directly back to shore let alone having somebody to rescue.
