Hi Sheila here,Jean you are right. I did forget my Canadian Citizenship Card,it actually fell down behind the fireplace and I guess I really got freaked out by the storm, which, turned out to be a 300 foot water spout, that turned into a "twister",a quarter of a mile wide that packed winds of 177km an hour,up the channel between our islands,Denman and Horny. We lost 70 hydro poles on the island and many many trees about six houses were damaged, luckly no one killed. The border incident began with me,forgetting my proof of citizenship. I was born in Ireland but am a citizen of Canada, since '82. When we were pulled over, the border guard, started to torture my husband, who admitted he tried to get a licence to grow hemp in '94 and he did grow one marihuna plant but was never convicted in court. Well the border guard just ran with that and went on and on about a "grow operation " The guy was a power tripper. I tried to tell him that America was going to legalize medical marihuna soon. My objection was that my husband was finger printed and photographed. The border guard was a bully. Marihuna is medicine. Homeland Security are making a money grab at the border. $265US is for Homeland Security.....Greg has to get finger printed in Canada and take a criminal record check to the border, give them 265 US and they may "Wave" us through. I went to the US Consulate in Vancouver and then back to the Peace Arch to interview Mike Hurta, reguarding our rights at the border, any border, not just the US/Canada Border. 500.000 americans are doing jail time for marihuna,a plant that grew in every ditch and was used for medicine for centuries.I do not use marihuna,as I carry a chanupa,a sacred pipe and am a sundancer. My beef is that border guard abusing his power and treating my husband as a criminal, when he is not. The judge in a court room in Canada and the crown accepted that Greg used pot for pain and the case was cited in Ottawa for the right of Canadians to use marihuna as a medicine. The border is a political chess board. If we do not have human rights at a border then we do not have a civilized world.
