Hi Mike, Thanks for your concern, I know this spam thing is over the top on this board, I am not sure if it is such a problem on other boards. If I clear the history on my web browser (Internet Explorer) and I post a message believe I have to enter a code to show that I am not a spam machine and am assuming that you all do as well? I have not had time to research it but having to enter that code should have eliminated the automatic spam machines from posting to the board. That preventive measures seem to not be working with some spamers which leads me to believe that they are entering the code and are intentionally targeting this board trying to disrupt it or whatever? Oh well, it does not take that long to remove it and is good practice for me as I want to be a Japanese house wife in my next life. Moderator
Removing spam is not fun but is done willingly. I simply focus on what is the most important part about this board and that is free speech. I know for the most part the board consist of surface news and that it is surface news which most use the board to get. But for me and perhaps others just knowing that there is a place where I can say what I want, should want to say it, and knowing that no one can remove that information gives me a feeling of freedom and security. As most of you know I am on a "verify the information" campaign as I feel misinformation is one of the most powerful tools of those who choose to manipulate public opinion to meet their own goals. Even though information remains difficult to verify, that cyber space itself is vulnerable to be used by the misinformation specialist, and that what you look for you will find, the Internet has the potential to at long last give a voice to those who have been voiceless due to their lack of finances and or power since time began. It also has the power to correct and prevent misinformation by allowing many people to carry on conversations on message boards such as this one. I urge everyone to awaken to the power of this most wonderful equalizer and communicator. It truly has the potential to change the world. I urge everyone to remain very vigilant against those who are seeking to dilute and corrupt the freedoms and usefulness of this most prized invention and to return to the day's miss information was all powerful. Those who hate the freedom of the Internet will use many devious methods to achieve their goals. They will say that it has to be controlled for many seemingly valid reasons all the way from it being used by terrorist to protecting children. Hear not any of these diversions. Protection for children can and should occur on the machine they are using and not by filtering the flow of information to everyone. Restrictions only increase the desire for and focus attention on what is being restricted. We as people will grow and adjust to the new freedom offered by the Internet if allowed to do so. The freedom haters will also use viruses and spam to bring down the Internet on the physical level. Learn how to keep you computer secure and free from being unknowingly used by the spam machines. Get a firewall in place, Use an anti virus and update it often. Check regularly for updates. It is your responsibility to keep you computer in good operating order just as much as it is your responsibility to keep your car in good operating order. The freedom of the future is depending on it, it is depending on YOU. Adios for now, Daniel |
