I'm with Helga on this one. There are lots of ways to give to this community besides encouraging drinking with free beer and killing a cow. Some examples are: helping people with their animals (Cisco's Amigos), helping Old people (give them groceries) and young people (ie. Bookstore or volunteering at the school). There are many in the community who aren't benefitting from the boom town mentality. One idea is to buy face masks for those who don't want to breathe concrete and dust from all the SUV's driving around town trying to buy up the ejido's future. I will pay admission into the evening dance as it's great entertainment but won't be buying a Gringo Day ticket. |
