Daniel - I so agree with you about "being at effect." If others can affect our state, what have we accomplished in our inner journey? Being at effect, however, and the capacity for critical thinking are two very different things...In the one, we are trapped in our judgments and obsessive, lacking peripheral vision. With critical thinking we can dispassionately see what is and what can be. La Manzanilla can have a beautiful entrance, it can have a working sewer system, it can have paved streets and adequate water (distillation systems powered by solar create engineering jobs and would immediately solve our water problems -- perhaps a constructive solution for Tamarindo to pursue that would benefit us all. Look at what Julie has done with CISCO. When I came 19 years ago, there were packs of dogs, starving sick animals, and inadequate options for those who loved their pets but couldn't give them decent care. CISCO is a model for vision and action. I think its success is that a gringa stopped just talking and actually did something that didn't step on alot of toes and benefited everyone. What if a number of gringos and others, went to the new mayor and offered to redo the entrance at no cost to the town? If you would be into organizing this, taking donations for a plaza that would not need constant care. I could donate bouganvilla and some other plants, that once nurtured, would largely care for themselves. What do you all think out there? |
