I wish I had answers to all of your questions. I do know that Senarat is the agency that is watching. Letters are being sent regarding all of this. The fact that President Calderon went against 16 of the 17 governors of states that border the coastline tells me that he is serious about this. The world community is screaming for this type of protection for coastlines around the world. If nothing else it's a wake-up call and maybe there are those who will hesitate before buying up the coastlines and then have to wait and see what happens. It could take years to fight this already "inplace" law. As more storms destroy and investors lose their money it will be stopped. It's amazing to me to think about the years we came down here and saw what the storms could do. Everything built on Tenacatita would be gone, boats in the lagoon, people scrambling to get their palapas back up and running(we usually came in October). We haven't had that kind of weather in the 9 years we've been here in La Manzanilla. Last week's Guadalajara Reporter had an article about global warming and stated that Jalisco is probably going to get more rain, stronger storms and higher temperatures over the next few years. Mother Nature has a way. |
