Just a reminder to anyone interested in supporting the campaign to save La Manzanilla Beach and Mangrove from unsustainable development: the denunciation petition can be signed by ANYONE! It doesn´t matter where you are from; the more signatures we can get, the better, and it is good to show that a diverse stratification of locals, foreign residents, and tourists are concerned. Please read it carefully: this is not an effort to stop all development; rather, it is an effort to stop illegal commercial development and to enforce existing environmental regulations on all developments in order to protect the surrounding ecosystems and their wildlife. The petition is posted at El Girasol Bistro (Mon.-Sat., 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., and 6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.) and at Manos Ayudando book store (thank you, Stephanie!). As well, it will be available for signing at the Cisco´s Amigos fundraiser this evening at Palapa Joes (thank you, Julie!) which starts at 7:00 p.m. It will be open for signing through this Saturday, March 3, after which point it will be sent off to the aforementioned authorities. Please feel free to e-mail me with any questions: immerse2002@yahoo.com. Thank you to all of you who have supported this campaign thus far and, in advance, to all of you who are planning to sign on! |
