I have read it carefully and though I support your effort to protect the environmental and aesthetic value of our mangroves I can not get over that the opening line calls for " all the current coastal developments bordering the beach and the mangrove of La Manzanilla and Boca de Iguanas be immediately halted" This as written clearly means to me any beach property. I would be shooting myself in the foot if our addition to our 40 yr old beach house that is nowhere near the lagoon, was halted mid construction. And what about others that have waited years for their project and are in mid phase? How long before we would get to live in our houses? I know what you are trying to accomplish and applaud it but I question the wording. I would also like to encourage some constructive meetings for public awareness as to how to protect our lovely town and mangrove and minimize our impact here, and how to achieve sustainable growth and promote better infrastructure to meet the needs of our community. These should be lead by people that are trained in the field. Also I would like a town meeting with the ejiodo involved to address the current building and roads. The poorly planed roads and denuding of the plots on the hills behind the mangrove is producing a literal ton of dirt that is washing into the mangrove every year. If this continues we will soon have a meadow not mangrove. That is actually, if not more so, the biggest threat to the mangrove area. |
