My wife and I have had lively discussions about the moral correctness of visitors getting involved in Mexican politics. I maintain that it is akin to going to a friend's house to visit, and then disciplining their kids, or "tidying" the car parts strewn about their lawn. It really is not your business and disrespectful/discourteous/whatever for you to do so. She says, and I guess I agree, that one of the things we would really appreciate in our part of California is if the Mexicans living here would get involved in the U.S. systems and customs, and tell us what they want and need from our little community. Flip that, and you have got the situation in La Manzanilla. Comments? |
