This is the latest info so get the info while you can ----------------- I am forwarding the following appeal from Wendee Hill and Marie Pruden at ACA, the organic agriculture assoc. at Lakeside. "Our greatest fears about what could happen with our low cash flow and no fund for emergency contingencies have materialized before our eyes this week: "Yesterday the well casing shifted and is cracked and must be brought up and repaired. As a result, the pump is now lost at the bottom of the well, and a new pump must be bought. "With this heat, and without a quick resolution, within two or three days all the vegetables will die, followed by the herbs and nursery stock. We have hired a water truck, but that is a temporary measure, is costly, and will not save our whole crop. Without the weekly revenue from produce, ACÁ will not be able to pay the wages or retain any of the training or farm staff. "As best as we can tell, fixing the well problem and covering interim costs for the water truck and the lost crops will cost at minimum 25,000 pesos, but will likely be require more, and we need to raise it very quickly. "If you can donate today, please answer this appeal and donate what you can to help us to keep the Eco Training Center open and operating. Call 01-387-763-1568 or use the PayPal option on the ACA website at www.ggs.com.mx "Also, please come out to Gg's Organic Market on Monday and buy potted herbs and shrubs in order to save them. We are 3.5 kms. west of San Juan Cosala; look for the chef's hat and the green Gg's sign on the right." |
