Wow is right. We were looking out over town and saw the bolt of lightening come out of the sky, hit the tip of the palapa. There was a flash of red and 10 seconds later a puff of smoke rose even with the huge downpour that was going on. I seem to remember someone saying something about cement not burning? Well maybe it didn't burn, but with the amount of heat I would think the structure was damaged. It was a Roman candle with lots of small explosive POPS and huge clouds of black smoke. With the second palapa fire in 3 months it all very scary!!! Muestro Rubin's house is fine and so are the surrounding houses as far as we could see with a drive by. They were all very lucky it was raining as hard as it was. It's never a dull moment in La Manz. |
