I went to La Huerta translating for someone who´s home had been robbed. The Public Ministry informed us that a report made at the major's office and/or police in La Manzanilla has no official validation but that the person discovering the robbery has to make a "denuncia" in La Huerta immediately (in between 72 hours or the next open office day) bringing two witnesses with ID's whom can state that the stolen items belonged to the person robbed and are now missing and that "they" would then investigate the case. The delegación and/or police in La Manzanilla has no authorization to investigate the case. The head of the Public Ministry was quite upset that the delegación here did not inform the victims to make a report in La Huerta and called the major in front of us to clarify matters. I think a letter to the Public Ministry (and also to the Secretaria de Turismo)is a good idea to make them aware of the too complicate procedure, lack of information and security and damage to the tourism business to officially ask them to investigate with the persons under suspicion. Reports from all the victims of robberies during the last half year , especially those who were not reported in La Huerta, should be added. |
