Mike, we recently lived for 4 years with all of our water converted from ocean salt water to fresh via a reverse osmosis system. The process removes absolutly every thing. However, if I correctly understand your question, it would not work by simply running tap water through it. Our unit produced 250 liters an hour. The salt water went through a course mesh filter that stopped small fish, etc., then into a 220v, high pressure, pump which sent it through a 10 micron pre-filter then through a 3 micron filter and then, at high pressure, pushed it through the membranes. Some day, desalinization plants may be the answer to water shortages. |
