Some of you may be glad to know there is a good source of books in English for us estrangeros in Villa Obregon. CUBA LIBRO is a second hand book store, though cash is not involved: you trade one for one. There is a cabinet of other people's special books that you may also sign out, as well as lots of other interesting books, all contained in one small room divided in to sections: adventure, romance , mystery, nonfiction and fiction. To get there from the jardin in Melaque: take the street bordering the jardin, on the side closest to the playa, and head south...stay on this street until it ends, and turn right for one block(you will pass by a large ferreteria on yr rt), and then turn left and continue until you come out to a boulevard cutting across your street... you'll see the tip of it just to your right...make a small 1/2 block kink to the right and drive across that boulevard...and continue ...you'll be on a street that runs into a cul-de-sac with a big fountain in the center: you're there!... on the left is a yellow and lime green casa, the door furthest to the left is Cuba Libro. OPEN M.W.F. 4:00 - 6:00 I was there for the first time yesterday, met Leonie, the owner, and found 5 juicy books. Of course our libreria here is wonderful, and a help in the community as well...but sometimes, when there's not much around besides Danielle Steele or Dostoyevsky, Cuba Libro may offer relief.
