The best message to insure "NOT" getting in trouble at the border is understand that you are allowed "OK" to bring "NEW" things into the country They just want to collect their Tax. You just need to keep a reciept, declare the item, and pay the minimal tax. I imported about $1,600 worth of "NEW" household items and they charged me $32.00 and were very pleasent and loved that I had all the items accounted for including a case of wine that I had the reciept for and they laughed and let me go in with it for free. I specifically showed them all the new items and had old and new seperated so they did not have to search out the whole pile. But if you make them feel like you ar tryng to cheat them out of the taxes or hide something you will have a problem. |
