Karl I'm not an expert here, but I believe that the credit card only covers the rental car damage waiver, and not any liability outside the car, which can be a big deal in Mexico, and is not covered by my personal automobile insurance. I just did a quick view of Visa's website and that seems to be their policy. In my experience the insurance, airport taxes and fees are not accurately reflected by the internet price. I have written to Budget and Thrifty expressing my frustration about this, and they say that they can only estimate what those costs may be? It is a constant frustration while this dialog happens at the rental car kiosk with everyone in front of me in line... it makes for a slow process with angry customers. If there is a better way or option, I'd like to know. I've rented a car in Spain for a month that costs less than for a week in Mexico. |
