Hi Ruth. The best items you can bring are animal carriers and then you can fill that with other items for the clinic. Your local thrift shop are great places to find them for a fraction of the cost. $5 to 8 dollars is all I spend when I find them in good condition. They are meant to travel on airplanes so they are great "luggage" and weigh almost nothing. Your local Veterinarian is the best place for supplies. Expired suture-Vicryl sizes 000, 1,2 (expired no more than 1 year) Trach tubes Surgical instruments of any kind except blade holders. Cheap leashes. The kind they use that don't have clips. Sterile Surgical gloves size 6.5 Non sterile gloves-they come in a box by the hundreds Surgical drape material that can be cut to size. Remember that we run this clinic on a shoe string. Up north the Vets treat their surgeries like human ones so everything is disposable and comes in Individual packages meant to be used only once. Our cost runs around $12 to $15 dollars /animal. If you send me your e-mail I can send you a flyer that explains who we are and what we do. It might help the Vets understand. Thanks |
