Aside from the very separate discussion about who around here might actually be a good contender as a male counterpart (and we're certainly not short of applicants!) I thought I might shed some light on the principal reason that this is a 'girls only' performance.... |
The original 'bellydance' takes its roots from ancient oriental female rituals. With particular movements of the stomach, this dance stimulates specific energetic centres in the woman, which essentially result in an accumulation of sexual energy.
It's not that men CAN'T belly dance, there are plenty of male dancers, but they aren't able to obtain the same results as they don't utilise the energy in the same way. (no womb as a recipient chamber etc.)
