Several people met on Friday, December 22. The decision has been made to go ahead with the project. There are several un-answered questions, however, and we need more people to give in-put. Questions like who will be in charge of the system once it is up and running, what is a "back-up plan" in case things stop up, how can everyone be educated to put only appropriate materials into the system, etc. More people, more ideas. Please come to the next meeting on December 29, Ejido office, 5 pm. It was also decided to get things going again, for each homeowner to give 1500 pesos for now. Suzannah is collecting the money with receipts. You can call her at appropriate times 351-5286. 7,500 pesos were collected so far. A goal of 100,000 pesos will start the work. Oswaldo, Ejido president, agreed to give 1500 pesos (1/2 of the cost) to test the bay water by the University of Guadalajara. We'll be doing the testing just after a high tide to see what is flowing in to the ocean. It is important to know what is really going on in our bay. |
A checking account is being set up with a gringo on the signature line. Frank and Joe have been appointed as sidewalk supervisors. There is quite alot of motivation, especially from the Mexican store owners, for placing the paved streets and of course the drainage needs to be done first. Hope you will come December 29 and give your thoughts and ideas.
