Glad to see such interest in swing classes. We will be teaching east coast swing, which is a type of jitterbug partner dance. This particular kind of swing dance is fairly easy to master and lots of fun. It is often danced to up-tempo jazz - or swing music. The music we will be using is 40's tunes, some R&B and what ever Mexican music we can find that "swings".
We will also include some charleston steps which can be danced to the faster music. This adds a little variety to the dance that is really fun and showy.
We will be dancing as partners (a lead and a follow), but you don't necessarily need to bring a partner to class. However if you have one, by all means, come! Often there are more women than men, and if we restrict the dancing to partners only, many women will be left out. So we are inviting single men to jump in, and will be pairing women as lead and followers during class time as well. That way everyone gets to dance. If you have a sense of rhythm and a love of music, then you will love swing dance.
