Hi Larry, You are correct about the 'little boy'/'little girl' effects on our weather systems. However, I believe the correct names are 'el nino' and la nina'. One local person told me when I was there (Jan, Feb, 1/2 Mar) that it was the coldest winter they had seen in 30 years. As Alaskan escapees, we found it quite delightful. Gina
