| Julie is exactly right. It is evident that few gringos, myself included, really understand the realities of "owning" ejido land. It is a reality that many properties in La Manzanilla can now apply to become privatized, the first step in the creation of bank trusts. Those who are interested in this possibility stand to benefit by becoming fully informed, as well as participating in a group effort to research the law, understand the processes and share experiences. Future buyers of real estate can also benefit from such knowledge. Many of those in attendance committed to helping start such an effort. Stay tuned. |
