Actually the problem isn't that there isn't enough sulphur but that there is too much sulphur. The newer diesels in the states have to use the ultra low sulphur content diesel. The older diesels don't have a problem, but the newer ones might.
And he is driving a pickup because he's using his camper to stay in during his trek.
