I just watched a virtual ballet of fishermen all trying to find a safe place for their boats. The first move was just on-shore, then higher waves forced a move further on-shore (with a lot of complicated maneuvering to make room for everyone) but pretty soon there wasn't enough shoreline left to protect anything so most are now tied up in the arroyo which has huge wave action from the ocean, pushing the water upstream instead of out to sea. One boat was carried, upside down, across the bridge and is still sitting on the edge waiting for someone or something to rescue it . Most of the town is down at the little plaza by the ocean, watching the action and seeming to have a wonderful time. You're right, Daniel - this has been, and should continue to be, interesting! Helga - are these the biggest waves you've seen here? |
