Hijole, the surf was angry! The largest waves crashed through beachfront restaurants and passageways to across the street. Many flew over seawalls onto patios. The little jardin was underwater. The "orange crates" holding up the bridge in front of Martin's are history. It's not that the waves are particularly large, although at times they looked like a wall of water slamming in to shore, but they're very strong.

It seemed like everyone who's in town was in town tonight, viewing the drama. It was something to see! Best of luck to the seaside restaurants getting back up to speed.

Since I got here 8 years ago, I've seen bigger waves, but certainly none more powerful. I heard that this used to be a common occurrence, and I hope people who've experienced such will share.
