I'm happy to hear that so many people have discovered Iz - I watched the U-Tube video this morning and it made me both sad and nostalgic for the Hawaii we loved. If you've developed a taste for Hawaiian music, you might want to look on UTube for County Comfort + Waimanalo Blues - a group that was one of the first protesting what was happening to the old Hawaii they were raised in. I think they all died of drug overdoses early on in their careers. That song, Waimanalo Blues, has some great slack key guitar work that I love. The other group I still love is Hapa. I only found a couple of their videos but one is Lei Pikake, a good song with hula dancers too. Thanks, Daniel, for directing us to Iz! Now for the weather - a little thunder and lightning last night about 7 PM produced .69 in. of rain. The difference in the temperature as soon as the rain started was dramatic. We've had three really hot days in a row - high 80's for the most part - with high humidity and at least one night with barely a breath of air moving. Nothing exciting on the radar out of Cuyutlan (below Manzanillo) right now but all the elements are right for more rain soon. Pray for rain! Things are looking shiny and green and the tree frogs are singing lustily every night - life is good. Weather Underground is tracking a couple of areas very far south and west of us - one is already at tropical storm strength - but both are much too far offshore to affect us this early in the season. It won't be long though! |
