Storm update

Posted by deanna on July 3, 2008, 9:37 am

Douglas had a few parting shots as he moved on
from here - .6 in. of rain during the night and early
morning, accompanied by a enough wind to make sure
you didn't sleep too soundly (slamming doors, etc.). I
can only imagine what kind of night it was for people
living at the beach - you'll probably need a lot of naps today! The storm is currently directly opposite La Manz at Latitude 19, but still very far offshore, moving north/northwest at 7 miles per hour. This motion should take it far enough north by the middle of the day to give some relief from these huge waves. If we get more rain it will probably be a result of the usual afternoon cloud buildups over the mountains, not from Douglas.

That other system that was developing down near
Tehuantepec is starting to dissipate this morning so
maybe we'll have a few days to clean up before the
next tormenta. The Mexican weather site has been
off this morning so if and when I can get on again,
I'll check to see if they have anything new.
