You can't compare La Manzanilla in February with La Manzanilla in August, September and October. This is the height of the hurricane season, and even though we don't get the worst of that kind of weather, we get lots of rain (not necessarily at night - it rained pretty much all day yesterday), storm action takes most of the sand offshore so the beach is rocky, and it's very hot and humid - (that's why it's called the off-season!). For those of us who love it here in the summer because it's lush, green and muy Mexicano, it's wonderful. However, if I were picking a new place to visit as a tourist, it probably wouldn't be La Manz at this time of the year. I always recommend May as the perfect month to visit if you don't want to pay high-season prices and mingle with a lot of other gringos. The weather is pretty much perfect and the summer rains don't usually start until the middle of June. Hope this helps a little and that I didn't totally discourage you from visiting this really special little place! |
