The next time you cannot surf the Internet. The Internet works on numbers but people remember Domain names better. You type in the Domain name, for example. Google.com, the Internet goes to the Domain name server and gets the numbers of that web site and then presents the page on your computer. When the Domain name server is down the Internet cannot change the name you typed into numbers so it does not work. more info If you know the numbers (IP address) you do not need the Domain name server so the Internet works. The IP address for Google is - 74.125.95.99 There are many Domain name servers, just because one is not working does not mean they are all not working. Once you are into Google try searching for the web page you want, it just may work. The IP address for the message board is - 75.126.161.182 This will take you to a page, on the right side click "Board Listings". That will brind up a search box type in lamanzanilla.info that will take you to the message board. Save these numbers for The next time. UPDATE - please see the information posted on THIS POST as some of the information on this page did not work. To find the IP address of a web site try www.more.net/technical/pingtrace.html (not really for beginners) What I would like to find out is how to surf the Internet when the DNS (Domain name server) is down. Perhaps by Proxy? If anyone knows the answer to that or other information please respond. D |
