Hi Ann and Doris (and all)
This will be great - always wanted to be in a book club.
I also have other ideas for sharing re books -
1) I like reading audiobooks, and have a few in my ipod - maybe we can somehow share these, if someone else uses them.
2)I remember hearing about the ultimate book on Mexican ettiquette from Victor, I think. Have misplaced the name of it. Victor or Julie, can you post that title, and see if someone has it? I'd like to borrow or buy it, and share it around - good for cross-cultural understanding
3)If anyone has bilingual books (also called parallel text or Facing page) - it is a book that has English on one page, and the Spanish translation on the facing page; makes reading in Spanish much easier. I have found some in the Vancouver library system, but most are rather difficult to follow, even in English, and a lot of the vocabulary is ornate ie, Cuentos de la Generation de 1898 is one book of short stories...of course children's books in that format are great... and I hear that Spanish comics are good too...any other ideas or resources, anyone? If we can get the message out now, maybe snowbirds can track down some resources in their home town and bring them down. You who live in California probably have more resources, as you have Spanish as a second language there...
