The problem with not having them remove and record that it was removed and then trying to get another sticker is trouble. The Mexicans don't know what happened to the old sticker, maybe you sold it or what? (better to bring the piece of windshield with sticker on it with you) and so you have 4 hours of messing around to do. My FM3 had expired the day before crossing and they decided to give me a 3 day sticker to get me to Manzanillo and renew the FM3. Instead, we went into Nogales and miracle of miracles they renewed my FM3 in about 1 hour. At the boarder crossing everyone was happy and passed us through. I later talked to the aduana in Manzanillo and he clarified that it is not the date on the paperwork for the vehicle that counts. It will be recorded on that paper that you passed through the boarder on a FM3 status and it matters not about expiry date for the sticker. Just keep up on the renewal of the FM3.
