As part of a new non-profit arts and culture organization here in Manzanillo called Bellas Artes del Pacifico (www.bellasartesdelpacifico.com) we've jumped on board as one of the official sponsors in efforts to increase arts and culture awareness along our beautiful coastline. Don't miss a special first-of-a-kind "open air" afternoon concert in Plaza Olivia of Boca de Iguanas at 5 pm on Fri., Jan. 9, 2009, presenting operatic singers, Cantares, and Duo Petrov, an amazing classical piano duo that has traveled the globe. The concert will take place on the wide stone terrace of the plaza and offer a small seating section (300 pesos) on the grass, as well as casual lawn space (150 pesos) for people who want to bring a picnic, wine and cheese, their own chairs to enjoy the sweet music in the open air. Donations cover costs of transportation, musician payment, and cost of audio/visual rentals, as well as promotional material. This is hopefully the start of many more cultural events involving music, theater, visual arts and installations that Bellas Artes del Pacifico can organize with the support of art-lovers.
