Good afternoon all...thought it time for a brief update on the going's on at Manos Ayudando. First a big thanks to all who continue to bring their used books to us...sales have been brisk this month, so we heartily appreciate all we get. And to those willing to give their time to sit and sell these books...the volunteers...again, without you we would not be able to offer the help to those here in the community. And to Mark who has volunteered here for four years...hope your wife has a speedy recovery and the dog as well...we miss you already. So now for the news...and some of the projects we have been working on. Our Spanish-English dictionary sales have been brisk...and now we have a program to aid the local kids learning English with LaCatalina Foundation to come in and get a free dictionary with approval from Dean. They are so excited to receive this book and what a great learning tool. We have donated your used magazines to aid local kids in making collages and the palapa on the kinder school is underway. This school is truly amazing and a walk by to see the tiny ones at play is such fun. Your donations to the Jugueton were well used and gifts were given to all the kids in Lamans to celebrate King's Day. Cisco's Amigos received your pesos by dropping by and either purchasing tickets for Julie's great benefit party or dropping coins in the can. Now we are selling tickets for a benefit at Cafe Risa to support a local woman who has huge medical bills and a nasty ailment....to be held Jan. 21...includes dinner and possibly music by Alfredo and Domitilo for only 100 pesos. Trying to get tickets in now for the upcoming Gringo Day for the local toros held Feb.5th...so will let you know when they are available. Then there is the book sale itself...mark your calenders for Jan. 29-31...as we will have books from 5 pesos. To all you Ludlum fans...we got a whole box in...and in good condition too.
