My interpretation of this celebration is similar to Debbie's. It is our, those of us who either live here year round or are fortunate enough to come for 6 months to call this our "other home", way of paying tribute to our Mexican friend's and neighbors. Their generosity in allowing us to share their neighborhood and culture, with all the uniqueness and quirks therein. However, as we sell tickets at the bookstore I am amazed how folks get the message that this is "their" day and have an air of entitlement...which makes me think that just the name Gringo Day says it's about us...not our local participants...what do you think?
