I am not particularly fond of spiders since many move around in the dark and can bite. When I first saw canclo in our basement they certainly got my attention. I have since come to appreciate them and can see many signs of their pest control work. They do have pretty intimidating grasper legs and fangs but my inquirly has not led me to believe them being very poisonous if at all. I let them be and just show a little caution when moving boxes etc. The same caution you use to avoid scorpions will easily protect you from canclo encounter. I watched Adda pick one up by the end of a long leg and casually move it oustside. My experience is they are shy and passive and would only bite if stepped on or accidently grabbed while picking up a box etc.. I think they may have modeled some of the alien species in movies out of Canclo |
