Interesting thread.

I have a brother-in-law who, several years ago, spent a great deal of time in Barra de Navidad, as well as California (I forget which city). He became very ill, but I don't recall his exact symptoms; however, I believe he did experience chills and sweats, and eventually ended up having a very productive cough with black bits in it.

The doctors had a horrible time trying to figure out what was going on, but after a fair amount of indecision, they eventually decided his illness was caused by a fungus he picked up in the dust/soil in either California or Barra. He was eventually diagnosed with coccidiomycosis, and even though most people (apparently) don't get terribly sick from this, he became very ill and ended up having portions of his lung removed.

Very slim chance this would be the problem...However, if it does resurface, you might want to be checked for coccidiomycosis. http://www.pacificlife.com/Channel/Health+Center/Health+and+Medical+News/Past+Articles/Coccidiomycosis+(Valley+Fever).htm

Hope you feel better with each passing day, Brad.
