I visited Melaque/Barre for many years. First time the year the highway was built from Guadalajara to Melaque. Stayed at the pancaked hotel.

Twice I got pheumonia in Melaque. Both times the wind was bad and there was a lot of dust in the air.

I attributed my illness to airborn viral pathogens. Nasty, nasty, nasty. I nearly died twice from the severity of these symptoms, same as you describe. Hight fever, terrible caugh which was productive, ackes and pains, horrible lethergy. Treated by a local doc with antibiotics but believe it was viral.

Glad to hear of your recovery. It took me months to fully recouperate and think that mostly the bug ran it's course but the antibiotics helped with secondary infections.
