Your auto permit remains valid as long as you have a valid visa. You can apply for an FM-3 visitors visa at the Immigration office at the Manzanillo port. This process takes 3-4 weeks typically and it was $1,290 in January. I am not aware of any way to renew the vehicle permit without a visa.
