Like Larry F. I vowed to refrain from posting for the same reason: nastiness and personal attacks. There is a saying: "There are those that think it can happen, those that make it happen and those that say: What Happened?!" On the small island where I live, there is no dump. Recycling is happening because a small group of committed citizens believed it could happen! At our recycling centre we have a bottle depot where all aluminum, plastic and glass containers (wine, beer and pop) containers have a deposit returned to them. (eg. 20 cents per 2 liter pop plastico) This way they are not discarded as they have a value. We also recycle other glass jars, cardboard, plastics, tin, aluminum, batteries, paper, cardboard, etc. There is a Free Store onsite peopled by volunteers. We too are having problems with a market for the recyclables, but it doesn't mean we scrap the whole program. I commend those that are working towards solutions: Dave, Dean, Larry, and all those who have put their recyclables in those containers. That part is a success! Just need to get the folks who are responsible for emptying them follow through.
