After the rain my grandmother and I walking in the forest collecting ciruelas and wild chiles jams, lemons, bitter oranges and a bunches of all Cain's of herbs she was a medicine women "dona chepa" she got the cure for everything.
three of us, she, her dog "pinto" which was completely white and I, at the distance we can hear the ocean waves and everyday noises of the village, clearing the way with her machete and telling me story's of her younger days, "la guerra de los cristeros" she use to say, when the Mexican government outlaw the catholic church.
She was a "revo" always refusing to accept colonialism and trying hard to preserve her costumes and native language, some people use to make fun of her Spanish but she always said proudly Spanish is from "espana" how can you claim that is your language?.
build her own house and grow most of her veggies and make everything from scratch like mole, pepian and pescado seco, chocolate con pan in the morning and tortillas hand made delicious sopes and chirmole(salsa) simple food made with love.
Most people use to get up early in the morning to take the nixtamal(cooked corn) to el "molino" to the Castillo's house she never did that instead she use to do it on the metate her self.
