We travelled to Phoenix via Nogales from Lake Chapala last April. We made side trips to beaches and mountains that added about 500 miles to the trip (but saved a bit on tolls). Round trip tolls were less than $180 USD. Round trip gasoline came to $267 USD in a Honda CR-V getting about 24 MPG. So we think that sparks is onto something. Actually, I'm using $13 pesos/dollar here and it was more like $14.25 when we made the trip, so it was really less than I quote. The side trips more than make up for the extra mileage from here (La Manz) instead of Guadalajara and the tolls can't be much more from here.
