Weather and stuff.......

I hardly know where to start - the fireworks at the
end of the celebration in the plaza last night were fabulous but we're still picking up both large and small pieces of hard shell plastic today that must have been part of the shower "bombs" that made up the finale. They're everywhere - in the yard, in the parking lot and upstairs around the palapa - scary! I watched live sparks fall into the yard below us and knew they were also falling on or near the palapa. Hard to enjoy the beauty of fireworks when they're that close - it was a miracle something (or someone) didn't catch on fire last night. The "castillo"" was lit around 10:30 because a light rain started to fall about then, but it didn't begin to rain in earnest until much later. Total rainfall last night was .20/inch - .36/in. fell during the day. That still totals just a little over 2 inches for the month of August and we're already halfway through the month. Not good.

Distant (and not so distant) rumbling can be heard coming from thunderstorms all around us. An orange-ish blob shows on the satellite just below Manzanillo, but the satellite has been about an hour off (instead of 30 minutes or so) all day - probably because they're busy tracking all the sudden activity in the Atlantic, so I'm not sure how or if it's still developing. Cuyutlan radar shows just a small line of clouds offshore of La
Manz. I imagine we'll get a little rain today but there are no major storm systems anywhere near us right now. The humidity, however, is hovering around 78% - temperature is 85F/29.4C - very much like being in a sauna. No rockets at dawn this morning! Hallelujah!!
