... today has reminded me of the days following the murders at Tamarindo many years ago - no music, almost no sound anywhere all day, just people walking slowly up the street to the ejido office to pay their respects and to sit quietly with Leti's family and friends who grieve. As night falls, a few people have finally come to the jardine to eat at the one open taco stand and sit on the benches, but it is in no way a normal Saturday night in La Manzanilla. It is, however, a memorable example of what community should be all about.
