Kick-ass Thunderstorm!

I know that's not a meteorological term, but I can't think of word that better describes last night's thunderstorm. It had everything - major (close-in) lightning strikes, the loudest claps of thunder I've yet heard while living here, plus 1.46 inches of rain in about 30 minutes. We had watched all evening as a huge black cloud formed out in the bay but that isn't unusual this summer - they almost always dissipate or move to the west before we get any rain. This storm came out of the northeast, surrounded us, merged with what was already here and pounded us for about an hour. It was great! Except for the immediate power outage which lasted until about 12:30 - no fans, no a/c,
not a breath of air moving anywhere after the storm moved off. The streets around the jardine ran like a little river and there's a lot of mud around this morning. We're still mopping up around here so haven't been out and about to see what might have happened in other parts of town. Any reports from the all-timers?? Boca??
