Here is the link to Crazy Cactus in Melaque. I have not rented from them, but their prices do include insurance, taxes, and fees. You can see how much that adds to the daily rate. I have rented from both Thrifty and Budget, with similar experiences, and the ~$13USD daily rate quickly gets to ~$50USD with the extras. Rent on-line for the best rates, but be prepared for a shock... there are many angry customers at the counter that feel that they are getting ripped off, but that is how the system works. There are several discussions, and controversy, on this message board about what insurance is required, but my State Farm agent says GET THE INSURANCE, and we do. They last time we rented we had a wheel and tire damaged by a pot hole, and we were able to limp back to the airport, and all was covered, with no difficulties. We mostly take taxis, buses, or ride with friends, and have met some great taxi drivers that have added to our fun.
