...here are two USGS links - one explaining the interaction of the tectonic plates responsible for both the 1995 and 2003 quakes that affected this area, and one with more info on the 1995 quake. We were downstairs at Quetzal when the 2003 quake hit and I've never experienced anything like that before or since - it seemed to go on forever, total blackout almost immediately, panic in the streets, and the roar of cars leaving for higher ground or just getting out of town.
