I had a man jump in front of my US truck years ago, the federales told me to take off the front plate and they would not jump in front of the truck! They try for an injury so you can pay them for the rest of your life. The federales said that they first look for a good car, then look at the front plate and then jump! If you don't have a plate, they have to look at you which takes a few more seconds and figure out if your a gringo. They know a mexican probably doesn't have insurance and will probably not stop anyways.

I have never been told otherwise except in California. When I tell them the story, they say OK!!
