We went fishing last January, boat charter with John? Rutherford. Would like to arrange that again, but can't seem to find his phone number on this message board. Does anyone have that number? Is he still here taking out charter fishing? It was an awesome fishing day.

And, I also, would like to try beach/surf fishing, with rod as well... I think you can buy equipment in Melaque... any info on this would be appreciated. I watched two guys fishing with rods from beach just south of Lora Loka's a few weeks ago - they were using live bait - shiny fish - and within a hour, reeled in four fish... very exciting. One thing I would recommend is some sort of life jacket/belt, as the surf can be strong - if you are in the ocean casting.

If you take a fishing excursion, they provide lures, and live bait is used. We caught skipjack tuna... and lots of other edible fish that the local fish coop cleaned and filleted for us.

I would say that as long as you have a fishing line, something to wrap it around, like a plastic pop bottle, and a wriggling fish at the end to cast out, with hook, you will catch something!

At Boca one year, the surf was so high and strong, the tuna were being flung on shore, you could pick them up, and throw them on the pan.... and that's a fact.

Good fishing for you, John - Fran.
